Rec Board News - March 2023 - Noticias de la Junta - Marzo 2023
![Rec Board News - March 2023 - To Bid or Not to Bid Soon after I was elected to the Recreation District Board I was tasked with researching and securing bids from contractors for some of the many planned projects here at Phase 4. My background in facilities management as chief engineer for the TWA building at JFK International airport gave me the experience required to fulfill this assignment. The first project involved obtaining bids from qualified contractors for work to be done at the maintenance garage near satellite 2. The structure required a new roof, repaving of the parking area and new fencing. I met with several contractors who were interested in bidding on each phase of this project. I observed them measuring out the job. One even used a drone to take aerial photos. Once I had gathered all the information and completed my meetings with the contractors I presented all of the data, options and costs to the board. I am happy to report that the Board approved the asphalt project, which will be starting soon. The other projects are under review. I look forward to applying my knowledge to future projects, in terms of both creating the criteria for obtaining the right contractors at the right price but also in supervising some of these projects as they are underway. It is my privilege to serve this community.
